Programmes
Integrated master’s degree
The integrated master’s degree is a five-year study programme (300 ECTS) which results in a master’s degree, with no intermediate bachelor’s degree. An exception is the Master of Architecture programme at the Oslo School of Architecture and Design, which has a scope of 5 ½ years (330 ECTS).
Students are required to submit a thesis with minimum 20 ECTS workload before graduation, as defined in the legal regulations for master’s degrees (in Norwegian only).
Long cycle professionally oriented degrees
In the fields of medicine, psychology and theology professionally oriented degrees/qualifications of six years’ duration (360 ECTS) are awarded; in the field of veterinary science: 5 ½-6 years.

- Norwegian: Master i [field of study]
- English: Master of Arts (MA) in [field of study], Master of Science (MSc) in [field of study], Master of Laws (LL.M.)
The professionally oriented degrees have retained the title candidata/candidatus from the former degree system, e.g. cand.med., cand.psychol., cand.theol., cand.pharm.
